Happy New Years girls and guys! I took a little time off from the newsletter over the holidays for a much needed creative reset. Working retail this time of year can really take it out of you and I was craving a period of hibernation (with any free time I could get). Now that my nervous has calmed itself down (mostly), I’ve been able to think about what I hope for the days and months ahead. The term “soft landing” has been in the forefront of my mind for the last few weeks and I think that my subconscious has brought my inner desires for all things soft and gentle to the forefront. I’m ready for a season of being easier on myself along with being more confident in my desire to be more gentle this year. I believe that whatever we do in one area of our lives also informs other areas of our lives. Picture a very large (and sometimes complicated) personal venn diagram shows our overlaps, sometimes they’re obvious and often they’re more subliminal, but they are overlapped. If I listen to a certain type of music I may be more into this sort of style and shopping certain brands which can inform how I want to spend my free time and what hobbies I want to take up, etc. It is often all very, very connected. So in the spirit of talking about this connected “self”, I wanted to share an “In The Mood” newsletter that kicks off everything I’m feeling inspired by or interested in for 2025.
I give *drumroll* my 2025 mood board: SOFT LANDING. I’ve never really titled these boards with much intention before, but this year I felt especially clear about what I wanted to accomplish with this board (clarity is nice, right?) Everyone in my orbit is aware I turned 30 this year because my word vomit won’t allow me to NOT bring it up- but to me that big birthday has brought on a certain amount of confidence and clarity. I like what I like and I’m proud of that-ya know? This mood board is me fully embracing that, these are the things I hope for in this new year, embracing my femininity and my tomboy side, game nights with friends, unstructured time outside, bringing the natural world indoors, dinner parties, reading more, writing more, and “going for it” more. Hello 2025!
Now to the style and fashion piece of this whole big picture, 2025 conversation. I write to you all wearing the below:
I made my mood board last night and since today is my day off from work, I woke up and took a little extra time to put together something I felt inspired to wear from said mood board. As someone who often ops in for light wash vintage Levi’s and flats on her day off (especially in the winter)- I was happy with my choice to wear a skirt for my day of errands and writing a newsletter. It reminded me how much I do love wearing light fabrics and how there is a way to still incorporate that in the winter time (weather permitting).
Since all things inform each other, I do have a few other areas of my life that are my “IN’s” for the new year:
