Hello and Happy December! With Christmas coming up I have been very kindly asked by some people in my life what I want this year. I’m always paralyzed in those moments and forget everything I’ve been lusting after all year long and panic. But this year I was prepared!! I had a few ideas of some things that have not enough left my brain, some items that live rent free in my memory. Funnily enough a few of those pieces were all purses. Since when did I become such a bag lady? I’m not sure if it’s me or the current seasons line-up, but I am loving quite a few purses this year. There just seems to be colors and shapes that are speaking to me! Since I had made a list of my own I thought I might round up a few more favorites and share them with you all… in case you need a few more ideas about what you want this Christmas ;) …
In the spirit of this newsletter, I would not just make some boring shopping list with a couple links and say goodnight. No, I wanted to create a sort of mood board out of my finds and share the “vibe” I see for each of these bags using some of my favorite images of style icons. Theres something about saying “That’s so (Jane, Bridget, Audrey, etc.)” that makes the piece feel even more special, it takes on a new persona, and maybe even makes you hold your shoulders back little bit more when wearing it. All that to say, it’s fun to envision pieces that would suit not only you, but the fabulous women below as well!
Party bags for the ultimate party girl… both are some vintage finds via etsy!
The black sparkly one + The Chain Metal “Paco Rabanne-esque” shoulder bag
The coolest and chicest little bag for an iconic french girl.. I feel it would be very Bridgette Bardot approved.
Something more casual than her namesake bag, but none-the-less this suede bucket bag seems totally Jane Birkin to me! The perfect bag to hold all of your belongings and loose ends and still look fabulous while wearing it.
Little Liffner Buckle Bucket Bag
This color has been living in my brain all season and I’m loving it especially for bags! Oxblood, Burgundy, Cherry red, whatever you want to call it.. I love it. Something about this fabulous picture of Lauren Hutton made me feel this very cool and fabulous bags were a good match.
Audette Baguette Bag + Gucci Horsebit 1955 Top Handle Bag
The above color’s more vibrant (and festive) color.. poppy red! I hav e acintage bag in this color and it’s my go-to this time of year. This tiny little bags in the perfect pop of color were Audrey in nature to me. The small lady-like shapes seem just right for your phone, lipstick, and a credit card for a fun night out!
Mansur Gavriel Shoulder Bag + COS cellphone bag
Joan!!! It only seemed right to me that the Ann Mashburn Helen bag, classic in structure, but with a practical amount of room and shoulder strap, goes to Joan Didion. Something for her to fit a notepad, newspaper, can of coke, and pack of cigarettes in. For me and you though, this bag is a fabulous upgrade to an every-day tote!
This one made it to my personal Christmas List! I love this Little LIffner shoulder bag and its amorphous-leaning shape. Would definitely wear it a la Catherine Deneuve with a trench coat and big fantastic sunglasses.
Another Catherien Deneuve moment in another Little Liffner bag I have my eye on. This dark green is less predictable but I feel would be just as wearable. I imagine it would be a great traveling tote.. now to travel in an outfit just as gorgeous as Catherine’s above.
Little Liffner Green Suede Tall Tote
It’s the “Tory Renaissance” and I’m totally on board. The stitched brown suede style and the chain handles have a little nod to a classic bag, but the dark brown suede is what make sit for me. This more paired down looking Bridgette Bardot picture feels like just the way I’d like to wear this bag, with a very classic but feminine outfit and hair style.. something very “French”.
Tory Burch Brown Suede Drawstring Bag
Drumroll for this last one… its CBK of course! With my favorite bag right now, the Prada Aimee in brown suede *swoon*. Carolyn was often seen in Prada so it only felt right that is would be the bag to go with her minimalist cool style. I also had to throw in this very cool black patent bucket tote from J.Crew which felt like something that would’ve been photographed on Carolyn. Sign me up for each of these bags!
J.Crew Black Patent Edie Bucket Bag + Prada Aimee Bag (sadly sold out in the brown suede)
I hope this gives you (and your loved ones) a few more ideas on something that is equally fabulous and useful to get this holiday season. Cheers to all you fellow bag ladies!
Cheers xx,
Taylor
