Well hello again! May got the best of me and I needed to feel refreshed and re-inspired before entering the world of Substack again (I felt stumped and in need of a small step back to think about what I wanted to say!)
Now that it’s June I assume you all are like me and have officially been claiming “summer” as the season that is upon us. Despite the rain (CRY) there have been some beautiful sunny days and moments of immaculate summer sunshine that have made me feel like long summer days are here.
I went through a phase of dreading how long the days would be (jury’s out, I may feel that way again come august)- mostly because it felt like getting dressed was a chore. What could I wear that I wouldn't totally sweat through, or that wouldn't show sweat, or even wanting flowy but then craving a silhouette (anything fitted-immediate sweating). Then I found my summer outfit niche. The type of outfit that made me feel calm, cool, and like me! A white top, white bottoms, and brown sandals or white dress, colorful jewelry, canvas mary janes, OR white top, white skirt, brown sandals and so on and so on with all of the combinations of wearing an all white outfit.
Wearing all white in the summer is by no means a ground breaking concept, it’s not nearly as clever as Harling Ross’s “stick of butter”, but it is utterly classic. I think that’s why I love how I feel when I wear an all white outfit in the summer. While it may not look the most inventive up front, playing with texture and adding the right accessories can take the single-notedness of wearing all one color, up a notch.
I really felt inspired to right about wearing all white when I wore the below outfit last week:

When I wore this, I felt like the embodiment of summer! Crisp white skirt and shirt, clean silhouette, it felt like it had the perfect amount of romanticism and simple femininity. It made me want to keep recreating that feeling so I spent some time putting together more all white outfits that I feel, add the right amount of oomf.

I don’t love throwing around the term “capsule” wardrobe (a tad over done), but I do feel that there is something very capsule-adjacent when looking at all of these outfits together. The simplicity of it feels easy to rewear and re-work a million times over, just swapping shoes and jewelry and belts.
A few final points of inspiration for spring white dressing from the movies I tend to watch each and every summer:

Happy summer styling!
Cheers xx,
Taylor
